Debate on the National Forest Amendment Bill

Posted in: on 09/11/2021 | Categorised as

  1. The Minority Front supports the National Forest’s Amendment Bill with the clarity in various definitions, so that the Bill offers a pro-development environment with a fine balance between societal and business needs. However, to further protect our environment, since trees are our natural lungs, it’s important for all municipalities to strengthen regulations on a ‘saving trees culture’, that is for every tree cut down, another tree must be planted or transplanted in the vicinity or elsewhere. Furthermore, recycling projects suitable to forests must be considered.
  2. The goal of development must be to design around the topography of an area, forests included, so that the environment is maximally unharmed.
  3. The MF supports the bill with these recommendations.
  4. Thank you.
