Thank you Hon. MEC Scott. The MF supported CFO’s qualification verification in the October debates.

This, we believe will assist with the underspending of the 51 out of the 61 Municipalities.

What is of serious concern to the MF and for myself in particular, that although Ethekwini is a non-delegate municipality; can we have the Municipal Finance Unit check how the Municipal Allowance accounts given to political parties is managed and accounted for because this should be used for supporting service delivery to ratepayers.

The MF Ethekwini councillors for one have not submitted financials for the last four years and my pleas to the Speaker of Ethekwini has fallen on deaf ears.

Councillors have become a law unto themselves and I do require Treasury to check how this allowance is managed. The MF calls for an audit on this municipal allowance.
