Noting the 8 fatalities  and 6 serious injuries from 5 incidents on the N3 near Townhill, Msunduzi  since January, due to an artillery road closure,

Further noting, ongoing roadwork’s in Northdene, Ethekwini is causing damage to car tyres by contractors not  clearing debris from roadworks. Last week tyres of over 30 cars were  punctured  due to this which has serious  social and economic consequences on road users,

This Hon. House calls on the Hon. MEC of Transport to report on what interventions will be implemented to reduce such road incidents.
