Hon Speaker, I shall move as follows,

Noting that, agricultural cooperatives worldwide play a significant role in poverty reduction and rural development,

Further noting that, whilst these cooperatives assists in food production, distribution and long-term food security; there are numerous challenges hindering cooperative development in KZN which must be addressed,

This Hon. House resolves to call on  Agriculture and Rural Development Hon. MEC Mthembu to issue an executive statement on the current status of cooperatives in KZN and the department’s strategy in this financial year on cooperatives.
