Study Tour Botswana and China Debate

  1. Hon. Speaker, The Minority Front agrees that this tour of both Botswana and China was a huge eye opener for this legislature in learning and improving the role of the government towards the business sector.
  2. HON. Speaker, the purpose of tours is to grow our economy through trade and development partnerships.
  3. We must always be grateful to the people of e.g. Lobatse for welcoming HON. Members so warmly. Botswana is a shining star economically and South Africa and KZN can take many lessons from the E. g. the commercialization of Emzemvelo. It was clear that Botswana makes serious informed decisions when allocating and spending money as well as monitoring their results.
  4. It is evident that the Guangdong visit was as meaningful as South Africa and China have many plans in the pipeline that need to be strengthened. Currently we have existing twinning projects. The report did not elaborate on this, HON. Speaker.

Our goal is also to strengthen SME’s to generate TAX revenue. Therefore, visits like this will increase trade ties with Hong Kong it is hoped and we should further look into this.

Thank you
