- The Minority Front unconditionally supports the IFP motion as the Minority Front is
not in the Rules Committee. - It is true that South Africa is not a Constitutional monarchy like Britain but a
constitutional democracy yet we choose those specific parts of colonialism to keep
and which not to keep; notwithstanding the fact that when the English and Boers were
fighting the Zulus, the Zulu Kings were always mentioned in our history books: the
Zulu monarch always existed. There are paintings and artefacts of the Isandlwana War
and Battlefield in the Royal Regiment of Wales. Repatriation of some of these are for
another debate. - Hence, South Africa does have traditional monarchs and we all must be proud of our
cultural past and present. It’s the height of hypocrisy that this Hon. House is patriotic
to the late, Her Majesty the Queen of England but gave no thought to dishonouring
the AmaZulu King by amending the Standing Rules of the KwaZulu–Natal Legislature,
so that there is no guard of Honour for him by the South African Police Service at our
official opening. This rule of honouring the monarch existed. - The King is the King for all the people of KZN and we Hon. Members have a duty to
correct the wrongs of the past. The Minority Front will always support the cultural
heritage of our people and His Majesty the AmaZulu King must be saluted as our
chief guest when officially opening the Legislature, annually, therefore the Minority
Front strongly supports the inclusion of the King’s salutation in the Ministerial
handbook and calls for a Constitutional change to regularize this. - Thank you
