  1. Hon. Speaker, Human Rights practise for public servants, leaders and officials means simply good governance.
  2. The Minority Front values these principles in our constitution, as legislators we must constantly uphold the rule of law in all our actions, thoughts and deeds
  3. The SDG’s 2030 presents the programmes of action for the next 12 years, basically the next 2 ½ parliamentary terms, therefore every decision we take now means that freedom is not free, because these require that government resources must be distributed, such that, our citizens are guaranteed equal enjoyment of their civil, political, economic and social rights, without and unequal outcome. How can this be done is the big question?
  4. Every piece of legislation, every regulation must be reviewed for fairness in distributive terms, so that outcomes can be equal. However, even these have limitations for an equal society.
  5. No amount of hate speech or violence will achieve these tall orders but inclusivity, dialogue and progressive legislation, policies and regulations will.
  6. The Minority Front calls for fruitful dialogue forums, every Human Rights Day, where South African Civil Society leaders of impeccable, quality brainstorm topical issues, take resolutions that government should implement, after all good governance must be participatory, transparent, accountable and responsible to people needs, quoting judge Navi Pillay, former UN high Commission for Human Rights.
  7. Thank You
