Debate on In-House Capacitation by Treasury: 17 August 2017: ANC Motion

Posted in: on 17/08/2017 | Categorised as ,

  1. HON. Members, the Minority Front expresses its elation on Treasury’s training office accreditation by SAICA, and, acknowledges the HON. MEC’s and her team’s efforts in attaining this accreditation, in response to the President’s call to expand the pool of financial skills.
  2. The five trainee chartered accountants will augment the existing financial resources and skills, and will further strengthen capacity to prudently manage finances in the three spheres of government.
  3. HON. Members, this training initiative will assist in achieving the pillars of our NDP 2030, particularly pillar five, to guide policy processes and coordination within and between the spheres and to build a professional civil service to enhance the capacity of the state.
  4. I have no doubt that this training will ensure effective leadership and governance to realise our goals envisioned in the NDP.
  5. But what is needed HON. Members and HON. MEC, is concluding contracts which sets out: retention of talent within the Department, building in-house capacitation, internship and rules, to be framed accordingly.
  6. The Minority Front commends Treasury on its initiative to provide CA training, which would contribute in increasing the pool of CAs in South.
  7. Thank you.
