Debate on Vote 2: Legislature: Constituency Funding: KZN Legislature Budget (Vote2)

  1. HON. Speaker, HON. Members the present economic situation in our country impacts on the running of constituency offices with rising costs. Therefore, it is hoped that all Provincial  party funding baselines increase.
  2. HON. Members, I applaud the Speaker’s Forum for assisting the legislature’s Masters students but a clear, consistent policy is required for all students to ensure that we are able to complete timeously, since Palama no more assists at this level. This would be cost effective.
  3. HON. Members, recently IT assistance policies are becoming constraining in the legislature precinct. I believe that an all party meeting should be called, Hon. Speaker to identify common issues because communication is vital with constituents and other stakeholders, albeit I appreciate we need to balance costs.
  4. I want to thank all hardworking legislature staff who are ever willing to assist us, however this legislature does require more researchers, as were are hamstrung in some portfolio committees.
  5. HON. MEC, the Minority Front supports this budget of R535.3 million, with these inputs.

Thank You.
