  1. Speaker
  2. It is about time that we become more serious about section 1.2 of the green book on Provincial population dynamics.
  3. What it entails is pure statistics which are essential to decision-making.
  4. In light of the SDG’s, especially SDG 5 of gender equality, it is now imperative that budgets of all departments in the outer years start reflecting the gender dynamics of KZN.
  5. Even if we have to arrange a parliamentary workshop by gender experts, on gender budgeting, gender focal points, gender audits, analysis and monitoring and evaluation, these would hold KZN in good stead, in the outer years not to miss the SDG’s and NDP targets..
  6. In terms of DORA, conditional grants and much needed donor funding from a gender angle will strengthen our funding arguments.
  7. It is therefore imperative for specific line items in all departments to focus on IT investment for data capturing and accurate reporting, as well as, gender sensitive training.
  8. The Provincial dynamics do exert tremendous influence on all aspects of governing, such as urbanization, migration, fertility and mortality rates, life expectancy, infant and child mortality rates. These are determined by the gender and age structure of our population.
  9. Premier is there a report on any of these gender aspects?
  10. The Minority Front believes that, if we harness KZN’s gender dynamics and plan for these needs, a huge difference will be noted in our socio-economic outlook, given the budgetary constraints.
  11. More so, our achieving of the NDP and SDG 2030 targets is vital because we desperately need to move the transformation wheel, but we can only do this by further modernising to a gender- sensitive parliament.

Thank you
