Study Tour Angola and Italy 21.06.2018

Posted in: , on 21/06/2018

  1. Speaker, the Minority Front appreciates this report on how these countries preserve and promote different cultures of people residing in Angola and Italy.
  2. The promotion and protection of their official languages, together with the promotion of linguistic diversity, is an example of how our Language Commission needs to embrace these ideas.
  3. Members, emphasized the practise that literacy, reading and artworks are driven strongly by government children and youth.
  4. The best highlight was the Nelson Mandela Library offering a wide range of community services, not only lending out books but providing internet, computers and hosting language classes to the Chinese, for example similarly, isiZulu in KZN can be promoted in our libraries.

Also noted is that, Angola has a vast mineral and petroleum reserves and has one of the fastest growing economies in the world; however it’s very difficult for South Africa to do business with Angola because they look at us as foreigners. We should arrange with the Angolan Embassy to enhance Cultural and Economic programmes with Angola.

Thank you
