- Hon.members, PHC is the most important local referral health unit for communities.
- Our government has done a lot of work on providing PHC’s.
- Many donors have helped post democracy.
- Currently we need to look at countries that have the best PHC’s like Mauritius and why the islanders have great health and are at an advanced stage in its epidemiological transition to do more.
- We need additional health budget in KZN to and now focus on equipping PHC’s, in meeting the norms and standards set for staff component, ICT or digitalization goals, security and training in interpersonal skills.
- The biggest gap is the establishment of clinic committees which is a critical governance structure to foster community uptake and positive engagement with medical professionals.
- Other structures like the outreach teams, CHCW’s and ambulance services which improve communications and healthcare service delivery has weaknesses that requires planning and additional budgeting.
- Hon. Speaker and Chairperson, this report is welcomed and adopting the look like a hospital which will ensure accreditation of the PHC faculties.
